Calhoun Honors College Activities

The Calhoun Honors College has provided many ways for me to become involved and be a mentor to my fellow Clemson Honors Students as they enter into College.

Honors College Mentor

Being an honors college mentor required me acting as a big brother to new freshman, giving them a person they can ask questions about scheduling, organizations, or anything else a freshman would worry about. Also, taking them to dinner and other activities. Being a youngest child, it was good for me to take this role to gain experience being a mentor.

EUREKA! is a program within the Calhoun Honors College for incoming freshman to gain research experience on campus prior to matriculating freshman year. I participated as both a student and head counselor performing summer research. As head counselor I was responsible for the wellbeing of all program participants as well as administrative duties. I planned several activities for the incoming freshman that allowed them to build lasting friendships and become acquainted with the  fellow freshman before entering Clemson as a student.

Honors College Ambassador

Responsibilities of an Honors College Ambassador include meeting with perspective members to allow them a student perspective on life in the Honors College and participating in events where the Honors College seeks to recruit new members.  I have learned a lot about how to better market. Being an Ambassador it is our responsibility to persuade these students to choose Clemson University Honors College over some of the top universities in the nation.
